Listen, I know times are tough. But I'm putting my faith in President McCain. The man ran on a clear vision for the country, and that's why we elected him. And while I realize folks might not be seeing it pay dividends yet, let me tell you, this man is all about "Country First," and he's going to get the job done.
Follow me below the fold to see why...
Yeah, I know, the economy is in shambles. Nearly 20% unemployment, inflation on the rise, the stock market in the pooper. But blaming McCain's veto of the stimulus package is just silly. If Congress would merely support the President's massive tax cut package, everybody knows that we'd be back on our feet in no time.
And you know what? This President is going to get it done. After all, this is a guy who suspended his campaign to take the reins of a financial crisis and steer this ship where it needed to be. Some say he actually didn't do anything in those fateful campaign days, but does anybody really believe that? McCain was working behind the scenes, baby. Setting the course for a bold new agenda. Because he knows the fundamentals of our economy are strong.
And how are those new oil wells going, anyway? Sure, gas is up over three bucks a gallon because of the crappy economy and every running to commodities, but hey! This is all about supply! And that Vice Presidential pick of Sarah Palin is looking pretty good right about now, ain't it? She is PERSONALLY leading the expedition into the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge to find those spots to drill, baby, drill. THAT'S leadership.
Sure, we could have spent ill advised money on green jobs, or tried to get some gas guzzlers off the road for more fuel efficient vehicles, like Congress wanted to do. But our man toed the line on wasteful spending, and he meant it.
Speaking of which...the money we are spending on that Iranian invasion is paying the dividends, isn't it? After the Iranian election, when the world said to play it cautious, our man saw the opportunity to shape the new geopolitical agenda in the Middle East. He was mocked about wanting to spend "a hundred years" in Iraq. Now that's proving to be a great call, given that it gave us the perfect little launching pad to take care of those Islamo-fascists in Iran.
Sure, his Congressional critics are saying that it is blowing a hole in the budget. But what's government spending for if it isn't for fighting a war on THREE fronts? Granted, the increase in terrorist attacks against our soldiers, as well as that one we averted on American soil in August, has everybody sort of on alert. But that's the price we pay for freedom.
Yeah, OK, people are still dying for lack of health insurance. But President McCain's veto threat of any health care bill frankly is warranted. The man's right: we can't afford more war and provide universal coverage, can we?
And look at the man's cabinet. Secretary of State Giuliani, Treasury Secretary Phil Gramm, Attorney General Fred Thompson, and Secretary of Defense Lindsey Graham. These are bold men of action...they know what to do.
So hey! You need to have some faith in President McCain.
Because the world would have been a lot less better off with that Obama guy in office.
UPDATED: Hat tip to mcfly below for pointing out the appointment of Justice John Yoo to the Supreme Court. President McCain brought some much needed diversity to the Court...in the form of a neocon torture apologist.
